It's been another busy week at Castle Chef, lots of interest in our Christmas dinner delivery service and more dinner party bookings. Today Sean is off out at dinner party so I'm taking a moment to have a glass of red and get round to writing this blog.
This morning we headed out to the suppliers for the ingredients for tonight's dinner party. I don't usually accompany Sean on these missions but it was fantastic. At QFS I met John & Mike and we got to taste white radish and some gorgeous rainbow chantenay carrots, once Sean had picked up his edible flowers etc.. the guys there gave me a lovely plant. I really hope I can keep it alive!
Halfway through the morning Mr Chef got a call from the client for tonight's dinner - the Aga wasn't working and there weren't enough plates! That meant a bit more prep than normal so this afternoon Mr Chef was on it with the prep... I love it when there's a dinner party on the go as the house smells fantastic!
As part of the the menu for tonight's dinner party, the guests had requested Tiramisu, truth be told Mr Chef thought it was a bit of a retro dessert however he put his own twist on it to prep up something with the flavours of tiramisu but with a modern twist including chocolate soil, espresso jelly & coffee sponge.
One of the things people don't know about chefs is that they very rarely eat. I suppose because they are tasting all day they don't really fancy a massive dinner. Usually a bowl of olives and a Gin & Tonic is all Sean fancies. However he had left me with some leftover chicken legs tonight so I've made chicken curry & some homemade chips. I'd like to give you a detailed recipe but there isn't one..- cut tatties, oil salt & pepper - fry loads of onions, ginger paste, chicken legs in pan with some spices (paprika, chilli, cumin & more), curry sauce, cook for ages until your other half makes it home from work*
*n.b. the above recipe is in no way endorsed by Chef Sean Wilkinson
I hope you have enjoyed reading the first blog post of Mr & Mrs Chef's antics & I'll post another one soon. Please comment below if there's any Cheffy questions you would like to be answered....
I'm Linder, Mrs Wilkinson aka Mrs Chef /Sean's missus. There was no chance of getting Sean out of the kitchen long enough to write a blog so I'll keep this up to date with what we're up to and Sean's news. I'll also give you a flavour of the rollercoaster that is life being married to a Chef!
